The good wood

Wood is "good": it grows, stores carbon, and retains soil and water. It can also be processed with little energy and is suitable for hundreds of uses... But "THE wood" does not exist. There are MANY types of wood, multiple species with different properties: their density, hardness, mechanical properties, natural or conferred durability, and appearance will determine the use for which they are predestined. It's a matter of choosing carefully.

The best species are selected in Europe and France to offer products adapted to their use, but which above all know how to make their qualities last (aesthetic, physical, mechanical, etc.) for a long time.

ISB wood and products meet strict requirements in terms of compliance with laws and human rights, impacts on the environment and biodiversity, and forest renewal.

High performance / low impact

Wood is an effective solution here and now to “inhabit the world differently” and preserve the environment.

  • because it is a renewable material in a world where resources are becoming scarce.
  • because to grow, the tree takes in CO₂, releases oxygen and stores carbon.
  • because if we transform this tree into wood, then into a product, the carbon remains captive in the product.
  • because wood is a material “naturally capable” of: It requires little processing to be suitable for use. Therefore, little energy, therefore few carbon emissions.

Better? ISB has equipped itself with a CSR charter (Corporate Social Responsibility) in 2024: responsible purchasing, low-carbon transport, employee safety, bio-sourced innovation, environmental impacts, etc.

Protect the resource

Warnings about deforestation and biodiversity degradation are increasing. Since 2007, the group has redoubled its efforts to ensure the integrity and responsibility of its timber supplies.

Seriously committed to quality

Even further? ISB is also and above all a seriously committed player.
Committed to quality wood and wood products: with traceable supplies (RBUE and RDUE), certified wood and labeled products (FSC® (FSC-C051177), PEFC (PEFC/10-31-849), Bois de France (BF0224)) and products with characterized impacts (collective and individual FDES).
Committed to women and men, ISB has been deploying a CSR strategy since 2022 to continuously improve its impacts.
