The materials used are technical products and must be installed according to professional standards. We recommend that the installation be carried out by a professional.
Recognized for its carpentry expertise, which it has implemented in emblematic projects in the Northern region, the wood construction company Edwood needed to expand to cope with its development.
In line with the values of its management and employees, these new premises, which house the head office and production workshops, serve as a demonstration building for sustainable and responsible construction. Modern and functional, they illustrate the vast range of possibilities offered by timber construction techniques to provide a comfortable and eco-friendly working environment, while meeting all the requirements of the industrial specifications.
"A noble and durable material, which can be shaped without limit to meet needs: that's the magic of wood, reflected in our workshops."
The constructive choices of the project
Designed with passive principles in mind, the building showcases wood in its many forms, using it for structure, insulation, and interior fittings. The post-and-beam structure made of glulam timber is topped with a CLT panel roof, which contributes to the continuity of the building envelope and enhances its thermal and energy efficiency.
The panels are assembled using X-fix connectors, whose interlocking assembly reduces the number of screws and ensures a self-tightening joint allowing the passage of shear forces between the panels.
The timber frame wall envelope is insulated with wood fiber and clad with pre-greyed siding.
The omnipresence of wood, in workshops as well as in offices, creates a very comfortable working environment.
The CLT ISB: a high-performance and durable material
The ISB CLT (Cross Laminated Timber), manufactured by our partner HASSLACHER group, is defined as both a structural panel and a complete building system. It is made by joining dried and calibrated solid wood planks with cross-grained joints, ensuring controlled mechanical properties. ISB has held the DTA (Technical Approval Document) for this CLT since 2025.
It offers the following advantages:
- Rooftop use + continuity of the building envelope = thermal advantage.
- Structure solution + carbon storage + wood component = ally of low-carbon building.
- The layers are bonded together using a Melamine-Urea-Formaldehyde (MUF) adhesive. This MUF adhesive provides non-delaminating properties for improved fire resistance.
- Dry solution + speed of installation = perfect for hard-to-reach sites and construction in dense urban areas.
- Excellent surface quality as an option, to leave the CLT exposed on the underside of the floor or wall.
