In the heart of Stockholm's Östermalm district, the iconic covered market, dating back to 1886, is in need of a complete renovation. To ensure the continuity of commercial activity during the renovations, the Tengbom architectural firm is designing a temporary hall based on a Kerto® LVL structure to house all the traders and restaurateurs. The project was completed in record time: just five weeks to complete the building.
The structure has been designed for rapid assembly, but also to make its disassembly and reversibility possible.
Following the renovation of the old Stockholm hall, the temporary building was dismantled to begin a new life. It was then shipped 500 kilometers southwest to Mölnlycke, near Gothenburg, to be transformed into a padel hall. This "translation" was all the simpler because the new sports building project was designed based on the pre-existing structure: requiring no adaptation or modification. The only tricky part: meticulous dismantling to avoid damaging the Kerto LVL structural components and an organized relocation to allow for identical reassembly.
Since 2022, the temporary hall in Stockholm has become a beautiful, permanent sports facility.
