Corporate presentation

ISB Group is the French leader in the trading of wood panels, structural products and softwood processing for the housing and construction markets.

The company boasts two very complementary activities.

  • TRADING

We buy and resell unprocessed raw wood, panels and structural products. With our combined extensive experience of the market, our sourcing policy and logistical power, we are able to control our supplies and always screen the best products and top quality timber.

  • PROCESSING

Thanks to the expertise and high quality standards of our employees, nearly 7 million m² of planed wood is produced by our 5 French factories every year. The northern woods used in our production are strictly selected for their intrinsic qualities and stem mainly from Russia, Scandinavia and Central Europe. Wood is a very subtle material, which relies on the acute knowledge of our employees to provide the market with high-quality planed products.

Thanks to the complementarity of its brands and the diversity of its offer, ISB Group markets its products to :

  • the Professional Retailsector such as specialist wood dealers, material dealers, craftsmen’s cooperatives…
  • the general public through DIY stores
  • Manufacturersby providing them with ‘tailor-made’ solutions

Mr. Pinault’s legacy…

In 1962, François Pinault created Etablissements Pinault, a sawmill and wood trading company. This was the beginning of timber import activities in France from Scandinavia and Russia. 20 years later, Pinault was reorganised and PBM Import, Pinault Group’s timber division, was created. PBM (Pinault Bois & Matériaux) became the second leading French distributor of building materials and the leader in the timber import and processing sectors.

In 2003, PBM was sold to the British company Wolseley. 12 years later, the British shareholder sold the industrial timber trading and processing business, which was then bought by its senior managers.

This was the beginning of ISB Group, a French company driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, proud of its roots and its material, making the ‘Made in France’ label a core value.
